"The genus Triconia was established by Böttger-Schnack (1999) transferring 14 species of the paraphyletic genus Oncaea Philippi, 1843 (Böttger-Schnack & Huys 1998) to a new genus on account of the conical process on the distal margin of the third segment of the endopod of swimming leg 4. Within the genus three subgroups had been distinguished, characterized by the presence of a dorso-posterior projection on the P2-bearing somite (the conifera-subgroup), and the presence (the similis-subgroup) or absence (the dentipes-subgroup) of integumental pockets on the anterior surface of the labrum" (Böttger-Schnack 1999)(Cho et al., 2019)

The genus Colobomatus Hesse, 1873 (Phylichthyidae) comprises at present 63 valid species that live in the mucous canals of the mandibular and preopercular areas or in the cephalic canal system of fishes (Romero and Muñoz 2011).

"Parasitic copepods (Copepoda: Philichthyidae) of the genus Sarcotaces Olsson, 1872 are highly metamorphosed and sexually dimorphic organisms infecting marine fishes. They can be found in galls inside the skeletal muscles of fishes. The gall, hosting a highly metamorphosed drop-shaped female is also filled with a black fluid known to stain the fish tissues during filleting. Despite their spectacular appearance they are rather rarely found" (Piasecki et al. 2020, 2022), There are eight nominal species representing the genus (Piaseki & Boxshall, 2024)
