Recently in the course of a first biospeleological research in the cave, a specimen of the remarkable stygobitic mysid Spelaeomysis bottazzii was collected from a lateral pool near the main conduit of the cave (photo below).

The discovery of this species, once more seems to confirm, beside the continuity of the ground karst and fauna of the Salentine Peninsula, the noteworthy biological interest of the same region.
